Waste-to-Energy Leadership

Three of our six mills operate biogas plants capturing methane for electricity generation, with another facility under construction. We plan to equip all mills with methane-capturing systems, reflecting our commitment to reducing GHG emissions and achieving cleaner operational standards.

Advanced Biogas Technology

Methane, 21 times more potent than CO₂, is captured from palm oil mill effluent (POME) decomposition and converted into renewable electricity. This electricity is sold to state grids, reducing fossil fuel dependence and significantly lowering our carbon footprint.

Pioneering Bio-CNG Technology

AEP continuously innovates in waste utilization and emission reduction. Our pioneering technology converts liquid palm oil processing waste into Bio-CNG (Compressed Natural Gas), resulting in Indonesia's first commercial-scale plant at Blankahan Estate.

AEP operates Indonesia's first commercial Bio-CNG plant, converting palm oil mill effluent into clean compressed natural gas for industrial and transportation applications.

Biomass Value Creation

Our Biomass Plant in North Sumatra transforms empty fruit bunches (EFB) into premium Dried Long Fiber (DLF). With 80% of fibers exceeding 50cm and moisture content below 15%, this material supplies furniture and automobile upholstery industries, creating economic value from agricultural waste.
